It is no secret that the insurance industry requires vast amounts of data to effectively manage its business. We are no exception. At OMIA we have a membership of 63 mutual insurance companies with approximately 150 business users trying to navigate through 10 years of insurance data. It is no wonder that we were experiencing reporting challenges. Crucial to managing our day to day business operations were a series of 144 reports. These static, paper-based reports were prepared on a quarterly basis and took our IT team two weeks to prepare with overnight batch runs. We can now make proactive strategic decisions. Our new solution provides us with “best practises” reports but now they take 2 days to prepare instead of 2 weeks, freeing up valuable IT time. An analysis component to the solution utilizes Microsoft SQL Server Analysis Services which provides users with ad hoc access to various areas of the business where trends have automatically been highlighted. All of which were previously unavailable.
GHI Technologies was able to deliver the solution on budget and in 4 months, something that alternate vendors could not commit to do in the time and budget. The technology (Microsoft) investment has been protected as the interface is not only familiar, it is also extremely intuitive and easy to use; adoption was quick and usage rates are high.
